Weighing In On A Full Year's Use: One Satisfied Chevy Bolt Customer's Thoughts

Since the days when plentiful heat and sunshine beat down are finally here in Tucson, many of our staff members and loyal customers are pondering just how much change our planet has encountered. We really do not want to push any political views in the least, but we do all agree that on some days it's easy to think, “Is this our environment that is the root of all these drastic changes in the weather?” After closely observing this drastic shift in the Earth's condition, many of those purchasing vehicles have wanted to not rely on as much gasoline. The savvy journalists on staff at Green Car Reports had one of their frequent readers track to the last detail just how two newly-purchased Chevy Bolts worked out for him that year, and how they met his needs during long road trips.

His choice of the Bolt proved very useful for reaping a large savings on fuel costs, and he was able to nail down more than 300 miles of range during the summer months, even as the EPA rated the vehicle with a 238-mile capacity. Longtime customer Patrick Reid spoke candidly about his satisfaction regarding not giving up money to the fossil fuel industry, as cars that use no gasoline, transmission oil, motor oil, filters, or power steering fluid are instrumental in the much greener future of the planet. Many have made the decision to not purchase an internal combustion vehicle, and while we will continue to be steadfast for the gasoline-dependent segments of our vehicle lineup, have been pleasantly surprised by the rising number of customers who are making the switch that had previously had no intention to.

Patrick and his wife purchased their very first Bolt EV in January of 2017, and another one in April of the same year. They both were taken aback completely by the range, performance, quality of construction, and versatility of the Bolt, as well as the amount saved in fuel costs. The vehicles they were replacing were a 2007 Chevy Impala, and a 2002 GMC Yukon. Each one of these two cars usually saw around 15,000 miles a year put on them, with annual fuel costs totaling around $4,700. The price of gas in their area averaged around $2.70 a gallon during the entire year. To illustrate the costs at hand to charge their new Bolts, their previous fuel expense was around $390 per month, and the cost to charge their new cars was around $85 each month.

After an entire year had passed, they had collectively driven a total of 30,400 miles, and around 80 percent of the miles were derived from their own power source in the garage. The cost for this power was around 11 cents per KW, and so they were able to save around $3,700 over the course of the year. What they wanted to do with this money was to put it towards a vacation or college fund, or any other surprises that life threw at them. They discovered that with a bit of pre-planning, the ChargePoint, PlugShare, and Chevrolet Apps have located enough level 3 charges for them on their distance drives.

Right at the 170-210 mile mark seemed to be the best place to plan a charging stop, as well as scouting a proper backup charger within a close 20-mile range. While they were at home, they both had their vehicles plugged in at the same time, and the 20-amp garage charger did not suffer any issues with the 16-amp load duty. They were thrilled with how satisfying their ownership of the Bolts was, and claim that they are just as superior and fresh as they were the exciting first day they were driven off the lot. We hope you can come down and be our guests this summer at O'rielly Chevy of Tucson, and check out just how intensely a Bolt can change your entire spending and savings outlook, as well as rapidly become your most practical driving asset for 2018!

2019 Chevy Silverado Trim Check: Deciding Between 8 Varied Choices

As spring provides its most beautiful weeks, fresh flowers, and later sunsets for Tucson residents to enjoy, O'Rielly customers on the hunt for the ideal truck will understandably have various questions about the varieties of trim levels available to them. Next Year's Silverado will sport 8 different trims, paired with six different transmission and engine combinations. You may be part of a large family on the go, or a contractor running your own business; you'll still be able to pinpoint the version perfect for you. Meeting your needs for durability, tech features, and powerful performance, the Silverado is a front-running and award-winning master of its genre. Over half of these models will be equipped with some of the most advanced V8 engines in Chevy's longstanding history.

The RST and Silverado LT both offer the all-new for 2019 and very advanced 2.7-liter engine that is on deck to replace the 4.3-liter V6, as the brand new engine standard. It is now equipped to offer 22 percent more torque, a higher fuel efficiency, and much heftier power-to-weight ration. There is now also the option to satisfy many hard-working men and womens' craving for a diesel option: the new Duramax 3.0-liter inline six turbo is supposed to become available early next year. Three very focused consumer profiles are the base for all of the available combinations of engine and transmission: High Value, High Volume, or High Feature. The High Value profile is for customers that are seeking the features and raw capabilities of a full-size truck, but are not ready for an exorbitant price tag.

The High Volume profile was designed with customers in mind that have their driving priorities situated right in the middle of the current market's offerings. Just like the hard-working residents of the heartland itself, the LT Trail Boss, LT, and RST trims are in existence to provide pin-drop accuracy, efficiency, and the latest in tech options for the driver. The all-new 2.7-liter Turbo with Active Fuel Management and stop/start technology is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and is now standard for the LT and RST. The updated 5.3-liter V8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management and 8-speed transmission is standard on the LT Trail boss, bringing to the table a hefty boost of power, and an entirely new breed of capability.

If an upper-end and premium truck is what you are on the search for, the High Feature profile is sure to be at the top of your list: the LTZ and High Country trims offer the peak levels of performance that now exist. The entry-level Standard trim is now equipped with the 5.3-liter V8, stop/start technology, and Dynamic Fuel Management, while still mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission. More power comes in the form the optional 6.2-liter V8 on this trim level, and you have the opportunity to up the ante with two extra gears, by means of the 10-speed t ransmission.

All of these models boast more efficiency in weight class and aerodynamics than the ones before them, and the all-important fuel efficiency has not been compromised to reach the product's fantastic finish. To truly have a firm claim as the most dependable and long-lasting pickup on the road, the Silverado is put through 475,000 rigorous validation tests, and a staggering 7 million miles of additional road testing. To help assure that every single truck coming off the line is in top shape, and as safe as any vehicle can be, all of us here at O'rielly Chevy of Tucson are proud to stand behind and offer great deals on next year's upcoming Silverado: the truck that will carry loads, haul, and mud-trail its way to the finish line every time!

2019 Spring Spy Shot Spectacle: 2019 Chevy Silverado Caught Off-Guard

Here at Orielly Chevy of Tucson when spring makes its yearly appearance, trucks are one of the hottest topics of conversation. Camping trips at spots like Ash Creek, Sheep's Head, and Pinery Canyon Road are going to be gearing up for heavy traffic now, and being fully-equipped with a vehicle like the Silverado will set your weekend straight. The very rugged, able, and conquering 2019 Silverado was already shown to the public at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but a few questions were still left on the table. There were some loose ends in regards to the RST trim level, and it is now shown prominently in a few spy shots released to us this week.

One noticeable difference is between the body-colored grille: it now has gaps that have a much more narrow appearance in the center bars. Bumpers now have color within the body, and the fog lights have chrome guards that bear more resemblance to the grille's original stance. The tailgate possesses the Silverado's original swagger and style, but now also receives the awesome RST trim badge. The test truck pictured also sports a 4 x 4 sticker, making the announcement boldly of its four-wheel-drive capability. It's still possible that there will be a few more performance upgrades to the RST, within this trim that was first introduced on the Suburban and Tahoe.

We know how important it is to have a very reliable, sturdy, and long-lasting truck for daily duties, hauling, various chores around your property, or getting the trusty two-stroke toys for fun out to the lake. Reserving the lighter aluminum for construction of the hood, doors, and tailgate, the 2019 Silverado has made strides a bit unlike competitor Ford's F-150. The Ford features the use of aluminum into the construction of the cab itself, and our Silverado uses the lighter aluminum for construction of the doors, tailgate, and hood. Trimming weight while upping the size has made many trucks morph into the powerful devices we only dreamed of decades ago.

There are now 450 pounds trimmed from the 2019 crew-cab V8, compared to the  previous year's model. This included removal from the frame of 88 pounds, and another 88 pounds taken from the body. The wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than the current truck's, and 1.6 inches are added to the overall length. Passengers will be happy to learn that the legroom in the rear is up: it is now a total of 43.8 inches, up from 40.9 in the 2018 model. Every cab configuration for the 2019 gets a bed with almost 7 inches of extra width on the floor, as well as a brand-new power-operated tailgate. There is easy access for the tailgate with a button mounted right in the cabin, and you'll really be upping the ante on the spring excitement factor with a test drive. KBB.Com awarded the Silverado in the Top Ten for Best Resale Value for 2018, making a solid statement about long-term value, and all-important dollars and sense!

RST Trim Level Boasts Surly V8, Adds Might and Muscle to 2019 Suburban

When Chevy introduced the very popular RST Trim Level for the Suburban and Tahoe SUV's, the Suburban was a bit left out, not sporting the same power in the all-important engine department. The 6.2-liter V8 that can now be added as an exciting upgrade was not yet available, but that has now changed completely for the year. The RST Performance Package for the Suburban RST allows you to enjoy the body color trim and unique new wheel design, as well as the engine providing more flex, generating up to 420 horsepower, and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The customers who were so very eager to have access to more muscle will be ecstatic with the newfound gain: the previous engine allocation was the 5.3-liter V8, that made 355 horsepower, and 383 lb-ft of torque. What the RST package offers now is the much more competent V8, coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission, along with the addition of a magnetorheological suspension. The brake system has been completely upgraded, along with the addition of six-piston Brembo brake calipers in the front, and the addition of a menacing fiery red paint color. The upgrade to the exhaust puts to use a Borla System, that adds a very warm and throaty quality to the sound, while fulfilling the task of improving fume flow, yielding peak performance.

The much more powerful engine avidly puts to use direct injection technology, Active Fuel Management, and continuously variable valve timing, to conjure up every available unit of powerful performance from the rugged V8. The valves inside an internal combustion engine are used to control the amount of flow in the intake, as well as the gases that are present inside and outside of the combustion chamber. Since the Tahoe RST Model was so popular, Chevy was heavily swayed to manufacture a Suburban that had much more to offer in the power category, and will continue to spend time developing future models with different performance combinations. For those of you in the Tucson metro area that are planning an array of camping trips and other expeditions for the summer, the towing rating is 8,100 pounds, boasting the might to lug about anything your weekend demands.

Other prime features of this exciting new trim level are 22-inch wheels wrapped in
Bridgestone P285/ 45R22 tires, as well as black accents on the grille, mirror caps, window trim, and roof rails, all wrapped up in a powerful package that reaches 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds! Has this been the year that you decided to break away from the grind, and start your own family business as so many others have in the Tucson metro? This beefed-up Suburban would be a prime addition to your fleet: a vehicle that has the behavior of a truck, yet can also lug around a large number of friends and family is ideal. We are excited to have you here for a test drive at Orielly Chevy, when you can check out in grave detail just why the SuperChevy blog calls this new upgrade a “Corvette in Suburban Clothing”!

Spy Shots Leaked of 2020 Silverado HD Spotted During Testing

When a new future truck model is under development, it's no doubt that Chevy keeps the details heavily under wraps, and the next-generation Silverado HD is one of the ranks in the standby department. Here at O'Rielly Chevy of Tucson, we are able to obtain a fairly steady stream of spy shots, keeping us properly up to date on details such as what the appearances of future models will be like, even if they are cloaked under heavy camouflage during their secret outings. New shots that have just been leaked to us clearly show GM putting both the Chevy and GMC versions of these very trusty and ready-to-conquer pickups in their various body styles. The New Silverado HD appears to feature a very prominent bar in the grille that gives the truck a much rougher appearance, and the photos we saw suggest that both models will sport more tiers of lights.

Immediately evident on the underside, LED as well as fog lights appear to be present during the test runs, and the body cladding on the heavy side does not provide a perfect look at the truck's front and rear stance, but the fenders appear in the shots to be much more prominent than on past models. Another very noticeable difference between the GMC and Chevy versions is seen right at the front: the future Sierra HD appears to sport more bars in the grille, and the LED lights are situated above, instead of below these bars. At this point, the exact specs of the powertrain alterations aren't known, but the GMC and Chevy feature adjustments and tweaks that will substantially improve their hauling capabilities. Being able to get work done quickly, and possessing a hefty dependability factor are two of the traits that serious truck buyers are going to be on the hunt for, and these are both traits that these two trucks undoubtedly tout daily.

There is slated to be a hefty refresh on deck for the Duramax 6.6-liter V8 diesel engine, while the base engine option will most likely be the 6.0-liter Gasoline V8. The avid and dependable shifting duties are likely to be handled by the same six-speed automatic heavy-duty transmission, which is the same that Ford and Ram are still placing into their heaviest-duty models being sold currently. The Chicago or Detroit Auto Shows will most likely be the location where these two will make their first dazzling appearance next year, and we guarantee that attendees will be star-struck by their presence right away!

The very knowledgeable folks on staff at the Jalopnik blog claimed that after  checking out a few spy shots for themselves, “The new heavy-duty Silverado HD is coming for you in your nightmares”, and gave it props for bolder, larger proportions of the truck that resonate with a serious impression right off the bat. Jokingly claiming that the future Silverado is a vehicle that will easily instill fear in the drivers of the tiny tin box likes of Renault and Fiat, their write-up in early April is a nod to how excited they are to see such a staple of hard-working and monumental power gain exciting new models in the future. The larger size is recognizable right away, and will not doubt be a large draw for this adamantly tough truck line. Prepare yourself to be quickly amazed and taken back: 2020 will arrive quickly, and so will all of the well-chiseled chores you'll have on your list to offer up for this massively can-do duo!
