Exciting Changes For 2020 Chevy Colorado Detailed on Autoblog.com

It is always so very exciting for all of us to ring in spring here at O'Rielly Chevy, when we get to welcome many from out of town on vacation, and help families figure out just what vehicle is right for them. It's also a time of the year when customers ask us which of the seasonal events around town are worth attending. When it comes to fun and family, we have our eyes on the annual Putt-ing Kids First event: held every June with over 700 in attendance, it takes place at Golf N'Stuff. Those who join in have unlimited access to all of the games and attractions, and its a perfect way to ring in the coming of summer while helping our most important asset: kids!

There is massive heat in the midsize truck segment for competition right now, and the Chevy Colorado is our weapon that we love standing behind as the sales numbers of our foes ring in. GM Authority has all the details on what our beloved bowtie brand has in store for next year's version. There will be an added optional remote locking tailgate on the Work Truck trim that will now be standard on the LT, Z71, and ZR2 models. All models will get GM's Tire Fill Alert, providing visual audible alerts right outside the vehicle when the tire is inflated to the optimum amount.

The 2WD Z71 Extended Cab and 2WD Z71 Crew Cab Long Box models will no longer be in the lineup, and the Chevy Infotainment Plus System will replace the Chevy Infotainment Premium System. The Luxury Package and Crew Cab body style will get the jet black leather interior, and the Safety Package with its forward collision alert and lane departure warning technologies will be an option for Z71 models, as it was previously available only on the LT. Powertrain options carry over from the current Colorado, meaning either a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, cranking out 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque, and the 3.6-liter V6 at 308 hp and 275 lb-ft.

There is also the turbo-diesel option that makes 186 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, and many customers here at O'rielly were excited to see the off-road savvy Z71 Trail Runner and the street-focused RST model as more personalized options for our favorite mid-sized truck. The LT models now come standard with the EZ-lift tailgate, and the remote locking tailgate is now available as an option on the Work Truck trim. The car savvy guys and gals on staff at U.S. News thought that this year's Silverado flaunted “compelling engines, class-leading tow rating, and very comfortable ride”!

The Truth About Cars Blog Provides In-Depth Look at Base-Level Colorado ZR2

The various trails nearby to Tucson are a constant testing grounds of sorts for off-road trucks, and many of the customers that visit us here at O'rielly Chevy are looking for a rig that can kick up sand and crawl rocks without a twinge of regret or shortcoming. We thought it was actually a very great idea for an article to see just how a base-level ZR2 fared during testing, and the folks on staff at TheTruthAboutCars.com did just that. Right off the bat, the DSSV dampers and off-road kit make it quite a bit more capable than many base models, and we love the friendly digs directed in automaker Ford's direction within.

The topic this article really tackled full-on was if the extra gear that that Bison touts is worth the extra spend, or if our fellow Arizona truckies are better off scoring a base level ZRT and modding it on their own. It is true that the Bison is technically an option package, and not just offered as an additional trim. Once you set your sights on down the line at the AEV additions, you see that more robust skid plates, brand new wheels, and a few tweaks in styling is a grave success for those wandering off roads that tend to be heavily traveled.

The skid plates really do offer primo protection and are one of the most well-engineered avenues of defense in existence for a truck that is slated to experience quite a bit of rougher elements on the ground during the journey. What these experts claim is that in a world where a set of bumpers run close to $3,000 and skid plates are about as much, the Bison option is viable. What matters really boil down to in a close-up examination of an off-road truck with these capabilities is that very little of what makes up a Bison is available as standalone parts and makes the AEV route that much more attractive.

Heavy volumes of automotive truth are doled out with the sentiment preached here that says, “Not every base model has aced it”, and the ones that have made the automotive landscape that much better. While we understand the very deep and dedicated craze that is fueling the full-size truck frenzy, it is undeniable just how valuable the snug and boulder-crawl capable appeal of trucks like these are. We are amazed at the new rise in towing ratings and horsepower that the full-size club brings, and many are spellbound by what the biggest and baddest can offer up. But we can also attest that there is nothing quite as satisfying as a midsize marauder that is eager to leapfrog over rocks and win victory over the wilderness: the ZR2 is undoubtedly groomed for the most challenging of tasks!

2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Deemed “Jack of All Trades” By Canadian Voice

Here during the New Year at O'Rielly Chevy, we get to enjoy the task of going over the many different opinions that people have gathered about our awesome cars and trucks. From the smallest Eco-Conscious EV's to the biggest and burliest of able trucks, the many blogs, review sites, and forums on the web crackle with extra life during this time of new releases to rave about. “Autoreviewman” of the Indo-Canadian Voice wrote this past week about a test drive with the ZR2, the specialized off-road model that offers the best in boulder-climbing and Baja-running capability.

Powered by the 3.6-liter V6, the ZR2 has best-in-class horsepower with a rating of 308, and torque at 275 lb-ft. Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers with a 2-inch suspension lift and 3.5-inch wider track give not only a boost in off-road ability, but a drastic improvement in ride quality to boot. The review staff at work here quickly lamented that the interior was “large, neat, and well-apportioned,” citing the high-quality build and comfort factor as first-rate. The ZR2's suspension plays on DSSV dampers that have the much-needed ability to offer a good ride on paved streets without being jumpy, and body roll that is usually only attained by means of a well-placed lift kit.

Steering was ranked during this drive as “light and dead on center,” and the very cool 17-inch wheels on board are fitted with ultra-high performance 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. The V-6 powered ZR2 delivered ample torque and acceleration, and proved themselves immensely on the Abbotsford driving area, on a section of rough trail in Canada where the off-road hardware and suspension made navigating the trails a cinch. Very quick response within the 4-wheel drive department and the very aggressive tread on the Goodyear Duratrac tires were two of the qualities that helped with churning properly through the demanding terrain.

The astute and able testing team from Road and Track were able to put the much-loved and off-road ready ZR2 to the task on the snow-covered stage roads at Team O-Neill Rally school, and immediately deemed it “the perfect rally truck.” This location features 600 acres of snow-covered New Hampshire backroads, and the shaved bumper, as well as perfectly-sloping skidplate, gave tons of clearance, with the fully exposed front tires making it much easier to climb directly up a rock face without damaging any body panel elements.

This experienced team really loved how no significant wind noise, no shudder when you hit big bumps, and car-like steering also factored into a driving experience that did not always feel like a truck, but provided all the capabilities and rugged duty ability of one. Ask us here at O'Rielly Chevy about the “Midnight Special Edition” package, which includes black emblems, 17-inch black wheels, and bed-mounted style bar and full-size spare tire, installed with care. It's amazing just how the spool-valve shocks can effortlessly brush off massive potholes, and also how the ZR2 feels as snug as a crossover SUV: this is one vehicle that anyone would want in their corner while wandering off the “grid-lain and organized” path.

Testing Tucson's Off Road Offerings to the Max: 2017 ZR2 Sweet Spots + Overview

Since we live in a region that definitely falls under the category of rugged, trucks that love to
wander off the pre-fabricated path are in high demand. There is nothing quite like seeing a sunset at a place such as Charouleau Gap: we have so many great locations like this right at our fingertips. Desert cactus are a sure sign that you're getting close to a cool location to put your truck to the test, and see what it can really do. The Colorado ZR2 is an extreme off-roader, and GM hasn't tackled an able project like this since the hummer stopped production around 7 years ago. This is a truck that was not designed to be hulking and overbearing, but a machine that you can avidly dash over boulders and through sand with.

It comes with front, rear, and center locking differentials, 31-inch tires, and a 2.0-inch lift, as well as a track that is 3.5-inches wider than the Colorado Z71. As you are in an off-road domain really putting this vehicle to the test, we are going to tell you right off the bat what you can expect to be over-the-top kick-ass about this truck, and it is absolutely the shocks. They are Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers, and their original purpose was to be for use in Indy and F1 cars. The Camaro Z/28 used a pair as well, and so giving them rigorous use on a truck gets tons of points for thinking righteously and thoroughly outside the box.

These shocks actually use a spring-activated spool valve, which provides more precise of a job done, and helps drastically to prevent overheating. The difficult mission of making the ZR2 into the image of what was envisioned called for an all-new version, with the two remote chambers that are located off the main cylinder to deliver the type and resilience of wheel travel that is required for off-roading. Multiple damping and rebound curves are offered as well, that allow Chevy to tune them in a way which allows them to function at top precision on a wide variety of terrain.

When you “make the leap” and catch air in this truck, you are really going to notice a standout element: it lands like gum. Not necessarily super glue, but the gummy feeling of calculated jumps during off-road happiness landing with hours of engineering expertise behind your last stunt. This truck immediately has the power to settle down and compose its prowess, ready to be put to the test again.

With 369 lb – ft of torque, this diesel is naturally at home in wild environments. You can pretty much tally up all of the other great essentials such as heated seats, great navigational features, and built-in Wi-Fi on this stunty and special ride. Supposedly, this awesome vehicle made it up the Rubicon without getting stuck or needing any assistance, a claim that the Hummer H3 Alpha could not sustain, after reportedly having difficulty getting frequently left behind during the same venture. This is a very unique toy for those who love to wander, and the greater Tucson area is among the best to put it to the test. Come see us at the dealership to find out how you can conquer the roads with the baddest new game in town... and experience the agility and prowess of the Colorado ZR2.
