The New Silverado's Abundance Of Towing Technology: Making Heavy Duty a Snap

Making the towing experience easier is one quality for a truck that many of our customers here at O'Rielly Chevy have been asking about. There are many instances where a towing job is taken on by just one person, and Timothy Dahl of Popular Mechanics gave it a try to see just what he thought. The Advanced Trailering system works together with the myChevrolet smartphone app to make your life easier, even letting you very easily conduct a trailer light test, to make sure your trailer is connected properly. In days past, this task needed a spotter, to be able to see if your brake lights and signals are working properly. It allows you to start a pre-programmed flashing sequence for the lights, and then do a thorough walk-around of the vehicle to check them with your own eyes.

There are three different cameras that provide a 270-degree view behind you, as you attempt to attach the trailer. The setup includes a standard rear-vision camera, as well as two side cameras mounted in the side view mirrors. You can even choose from an optional fourth camera that mounts to the trailer, providing an even better view during towing. With the hitch view camera, you can obtain a birds-eye-view of your trailer and hitch, and the new backing guideline adds a healthy dose of precision to the task of placing the ball just right below the hitch. This will cancel out the need to spend valuable time going in and out of your truck to make sure everything is properly aligned.

Just after you place a truck in park, it can roll an inch or two, which can cause an otherwise spot-on hitch to be misaligned. The auto parking brake assist automatically sets the parking brake when you're in Hitch View to very smartly avoid this from taking place. Over the past decade especially, there have been many different advancements that have simply gone above and beyond to save time, promote safety, and provide owners the ultimate in enjoyment that they could fathom. The industry-first Trailer Theft alert actually can activate the truck's lights and horn if the harness is disconnected, and even alert you with an email or text.

If you happen to be traveling at very high speeds, a tire blowout can spell sheer disaster. The onboard Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring informs you of tire pressure, as well as temperature to prevent blowouts from getting into the dangerous and potent overheating zone. Next Year's Silverado is bigger yet lighter, and boasts a fuel economy above 20 miles per gallon. One of the features that is the most congruent with the times is dynamic fuel management: it shuts off unneeded cylinders during a very detailed 17-step process. The wheelbase is 4 inches longer, and we can heartily recommend the Trail Boss Trim Line: this is the model that the staff from Extreme Tech used to navigate a very demanding obstacle course of a log road, steep dirt hill, and uneven boulders. Ask us how the cylinders deactivate during engine load, and the modern fuel management system yields a 5 percent improvement in overall fuel economy!

Colorado ZR2 Bison Created With Aid From AEV for the Ultimate in Off-Road Adventure

Details regarding a very detailed pre-emptive strike against the competing Ford Raptor have been circulating around the office and on the lot here at O'rielly Chevy, where more off-road equipment has been added to the bad and burly ZR2. Based on the AEV concept seen during last year's SEMA show, the new ZR2 Bison features very awesome and able custom gear from American Expedition Vehicles. First setting apart the new Bison from ordinary ZR2s is a winch mounting plate underneath with “Chevrolet” spelled out across its width, as well as an AEV steel bumper with fog lights.

There are now larger fender flares positioned over very cool customer 17-inch black wheels, and 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, an AEV steel rear bumper with integrated tow hooks, and Bison decals on the bed. For the most proper and fitting in rock climbing  equipment, Chevy traded the ZR2's aluminum skid plates for a total of five new steel units that cover both differentials, the transfer case, engine oil pan, and the fuel tank. New logos of a charging bison and the AEV name now appear on the tailgate and headrests.

For the most part, the Bison has similar traits to the standard ZR2's equipment, sporting the usual Multimatic remote-control reservoir dampers, cast-iron control arms, front and rear electronic locking diffs, a two-inch lift, and a 3.5-inch-wider front and rear track then is found on the lower-model Colorado Z71. Engine selections are the turbo-diesel 2.8-liter inline-four with a six-speed automatic transmission, or the 3.6-liter gasoline V-6 with the 8-speed automatic, in crew-cab or extended cab body types. This is the truck that the folks at Jalopnik called “A plated pickup to power through anything”, and raved about the strength of the newly installed protective plating.

The skilled folks at AEV are the ones who turned the Jeep Wrangler into the fully-fledged off-road ready AEV Brute, and are currently tinkering with Dodge Ram pickups as well. Since the main ingredient is the skid plates, it's hard not to notice that they are constructed of very hard, durable hot-stamped Boron steel. This makes an enormous difference for anyone who Is going to be taking their truck off road: oil pans and differentials can be some of the first items to crack, and this armor for the underbelly is wildly sensible. Crawling rocks and racing through the desert at dusk are popular forms of recreation right here in the Tucson area, and you will be more than excited to embark on your own adventure with the trusty and battle-ready 2019 ZR2 Bison!

Autoblog Doles out Great Words for 2019 Malibu: King of the Current Sedan Options

Customers coming to Orielly Chevy looking for their ultimate sedan option admittedly have a wide variety to choose from, and we have many reasons to guide them towards what we feel their best choice in the market is. The seasoned folks at Autoblog write that there are some “very real headwinds” facing the new Malibu's success and prowess, as crossover SUVs tend to dominate much of the landscape, and the most proper and fit of sedans are now really under pressure to offer the best in sensibility and features.
Turbocharge

The six-speed automatic is left behind for a completely reworked CVT, and the engine remains a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four. Much larger upper and lower openings are filled with a unique distorted-diamond mesh, and improvements recently made to the low-beam lighting force some elements to move down nicely, displaying less busy and loud brightwork at hand. In the rear, dual exhaust tips now poke out from a very heavily-revised lower fascia, now on hand to replace the tips that are tucked and hidden behind the previous Malibu's bumper skin.

Seasoned car writer Alex Kierstein claimed that the new Malibu does not feel terribly heavy during handling on many different road types, and the 1.5-liter engine works just fine here as the source of power. The delivery, ride, and power handling itself feels constantly able, firm, and exciting, while evoking a sense of accessibility and pleasant handling that you'll be eager to step into for your daily drive. The continuously variable transmission is destined to improve overall efficiency, and the damping easily smooths out the smaller of imperfections on the highway during the drive. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now come standard for the Malibu, and all of the higher trim levels come with embedded navigation.

The Infotainment 3 is greatly improved upon last year's design to make commands and navigation much easier, and it's a very easy way to keep the drive supplied with necessary navigation and numerous entertainment options. You'll definitely want to take a close look at how space and many different types of new technology are great assets of the new Malibu, and how the weight of the car has shed 300 total pounds of curb weight. The real heart and soul of the RS trim exists within the ways in which it adds outright to the sporty vibe, providing cool extras like a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Backing out of the driveway is where many accidents happen, and we have seen study after study that claims how dangerous of a short little journey this is. This is where kids like to linger, and a rear vision backup camera that now comes standard will help the car receive a perfect safety rating from the NHTSA. Every time you hit the road in next year's Chevy Malibu, you can expect class-leading protection, and the Driver Confidence II Package adds forward collision warning, as well as front pedestrian braking. Sedans are still big business, even though front-running SUVs like our very own Equinox are becoming more popular every day. We hope you rank the new Malibu as high as we do for a new sedan: budget-friendly doesn't mean featureless, and definitely still means stealth and savvy!

2019 Camaro SS Trim Feature Lineup: Stellar on Safety and Personalization

As there are still months of warms days left here in Tucson, high-performance and thrill-providing cars such as the Camaro are going to be heavily under the radar for any thrill-loving customer's choice. Back during June of 1966, the media introduction of the original 1967 Camaro was the very first large-scale teleconference ever held, employing over 100 technicians in 14 various hotel conference rooms to get the job done. There are definitely plenty of exciting new things for 2019 regarding the Camaro's SS trim: New front-end styling, including the fascia, grille, dual-element headlamps, LED signature lighting, and extractor-style hood is on deck, with the new “flowtie” open bowtie grille emblem, polished black grille finish, and aero-enhancing air curtains as prominent features.

Dark-tinted neutral-density lenses are new features for the rear fascia and sculpted  LED taillamps, as well as a brand-new 20-inch wheel design. The 8-speed automatic transmission previously in place is replaced with a new ten-speed, and now includes lift-foot gear hold, Tour, Sport, and Track modes, as well as custom launch control, and line lock. Also on board is the very wildly popular Chevy Infotainment system, with an 8-inch color touchscreen, available navigation, and a greater sense of personalization along with a much more intuitive user interface. When you come by to see us at O'Rielly for a test drive this fall, ask us to show you the Cloud connectivity: It enhances voice navigation, recognition, and other productivity apps for the user.

The 2019 Camaro SS trim level is equipped with a full-display rear camera mirror, sporting very improved, high-definition view quality, as well as forward collision alert. The revised ambient lighting with new blended color choices adds a very cool hue and character to the overall vibe of the car, and this trim provides the choice of convertible, or coupe model. The 6.2-LIter LT1 direct-injected Small Block V-8 is now rated at 455 horsepower, and 455 lb-ft of torque. One truly exciting additive for high-speed corner-taking carnivores is the 1LE Performance Package: it offers more than 1G of cornering capability, and includes Brembo six-piston monobloc brake calipers, 4-piston rear calipers, two-piece brake rotors, and electronic limited-slip differential.

Camaros have always been a thing of wonder to behold within the auto realm, and  even though the modern feel is quite different than the muscle cars of the 1960s, the dual-mode exhaust and magnetic ride control will make the ride just as pinnacle an experience as one of the ponies of yesteryear. The Driver Mode Selector enables you to thoroughly tailor the look, sound, and feel of the car to meet your driving condition and preference. Connectivity is more important than ever: the Chevrolet $G LTE with wi-fi hotspot will keep you seamlessly online and connected with a one-month 3GB data trial. Everyone here at O'Rielly is excited about this Camaro trim: a true and iconic legend really comes to life with elements of newer flair and massive redesign.

When you get your hands on a car this powerful, safety features are always important. Standard on the 2SS are Rear Park Assist, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert, with Forward Collision Alert now available on the 2SS Coupe. For the exhilarating times when treating the Camaro as if you were on circuit becomes a priority, you'll want to investigate the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system: it will always keep you at a peak level of control on the road, even during low-traction driving conditions and on-road sections that are uneven or loose in any way!

Chevy Traverse Review in Road Show Spotlights the Sensibility of Seating for 8

Here at O'Rielly Chevy of Tucson during a brief matter of years, we have closely watched the popularity of crossover SUV's grow by the day. They have truly begun to stand alone in the market, due to their ability to be practical and functional around town, or quickly exercise a jaunt to the oasis spots near Tucson past the outskirts. It is one of those sensible automobile categories that is as family-friendly as can be, and will always require a very stand-out contender to even make a dent in the stratosphere in the final sales numbers. The 2019 Chevy Traverse debuted back in 2008, and for the 2018 model year, an all-new second-generation version with new features was released.

Sporting comfortable seating for 8, two separate available engines, and receiving backing from a 9-speed automatic transmission, the knowledgeable folks atRoad Show blog thought it would be a good choice to showcase in their characteristically glossy digital print version for the week. The first engine choice is a 3.6-liter V6, which is rated for a trusty and able 310 horsepower, and 266 lb – ft of torque. If you choose to equip with front-wheel drive, it yields 18 miles per gallon city, and 27 mpg highway, while all-wheel drive versions can nail down EPA scores ranging from 17 to 25 miles per gallon. You may want to opt for the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, with 257 horsepower, and 295 lb – ft of torque, which is the featured power source for the RS trim level. Offered with front-wheel drive only, it is much more efficient in all ways than the V6, with EPA ratings at 20/26 mpg.

The seasoned experts at Roadshow were most excited about the luxury trims available for the Traverse: The Premier and High Country. The Premier trim builds on the LT leather with LED headlights, 20-inch wheels, the addition of more exterior chrome, a heated steering wheel, a power-steering column, heated and cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, and the very useful modern feature of wireless phone charging. If the High Country trim is what you're after, it tops things off appropriately with features like adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, a sunroof, a power-folding third row, and the towing package to assure the constant ability to haul with the utmost of confidence.

Writer Andrew Krok plainly states that “Chevy has a hit on its hands” here, due to the high level of in-car tech, driving dynamics that don't stale, and plenty of space available across all three rows. He was also very approving of the second-row legroom, and claimed that a 6-ft tall passenger sitting behind another would be perfectly situated for the haul on even an interstate journey. All three rows have USB ports, so you'll never have to worry about batteries dying while streaming via the on board 4G LTE Wi-Fi, which provides the medium to enjoy various games, stream movies, and get necessary laptop of tablet work done during the journey.

Andrew also claimed that during the shifting process, the Traverse's nine-speed  automatic was “butter smooth”, whether shifting up, or down. We hope to check out how high-performing fuel economy, a solid ride, and space to do whatever you want can sway you wholeheartedly for fall, straight into the abundant benefits of an 8-Passenger ride crafted built upon years of resilience!

Car And Driver Pays Homage to the Corvette: Reflections on an Illustrated History

The excitement and outright allure of the Corvette is not an element that can be described all of the way with just one sentence or photo, and the staff at Car And Driver put together a great piece illustrating the rise of this car that all of us here at O'rielly Chevy have loved for decades. As we virtually thumbed through it wide-eyed here on the lot, it did a fantastic job of showing us just how the vehicle rose through the ranks, to get to the place it is today. During the early 1950's, it was evident that the creation of a very powerful sportscar was going to be necessary to assure that the GM namesake would remain continuously profitable.

Project Opel was the code name that the Corvette was first produced under, and it was a very unique take on the British sports cars of the time, pieced together from a fiberglass body, and a 3.9-liter straight six engine mated to a somewhat tiny 2-speed automatic transmission. After making its debut to a very warm reception during GM's 1953 Motorama show in New York city, the Corvette became the very different entrant that then went on to be mass-produced on the line. Production was slightly rushed following the debut of the model, and the two-seat roadster incorporated the use of fiberglass body panels, and had reliance on the much more powerful Blue Flame inline-six for power source.

During 1953, the U.S. Was booming in general, and Chevy produced 300 Corvettes, selling just 138 of them. Many thought that at the time, this happened because it was not civilized enough to be a touring car, nor engaging enough to appeal to die-hard sports-car enthusiasts. During 1955, new life came in abundance to the Chevy brand, when they finally shoved their 4.3-liter V-8 under the hood in one of the most intelligent plays ever. For the first time ever, the 'Vette was now offering sports-car performance of an upper caliber. For the 1956 year's offering, the front end was revised, seeming to be a bit similar to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe, while scalloped sides added a look that was much more distinct. A second carb was available, and raised power output to the 225 horse threshold.

During the 1960's, many things were changing for the car landscape in general. The Corvette went entirely under the knife once again, and emerged sporting a revised front end, as well as a new dual-headlight design for 1958... other changes include an updated interior that featured the relocation of the tachometer from the center of the dashboard, to a location below the speedometer, conveniently right in the driver's line of sight. One of the most iconic Corvettes ever was released in 1965, and the brake improvements as well as the placement of a “big block” V-8 engine under the Corvette's hood, and this was one of those models that is awesome in red, producing a monstrous 425 gross horsepower. For the 1967 model, the power rating shot up to 435, and this was when there was a second 427 – cubic-inch V-8 added to the lineup.

The introduction of the Sharknado was one of the coolest-styled additions of the late  1960's, as designer Larry Shinoda put out a true home run, based on the Mako Shark II concept car. The three-speed automatic transmission replaced the prior two-speed unit, and the very powerful and appealing Stingray was on deck to enlarge the stroke of the standard V8. This ultimately brought the displacement up to 5.7 liters, and the 1970s saw some pretty amazing Corvettes. Even though the 70's were agreeably one of the most iconic and memorable times ever, we then skipped ahead on the slideshow to 1983, when Chevy released the 4th-generation Corvette as a 1984 model.

It was completely redesigned from the ground up, and welcomed additional clearance, as well as a lower center of gravity. The 205-hp, 350 cubic inch V-8 is the only engine offered, and mates to either a 4-speed automatic transmission, or Chevy's 4+3 manual gearbox, which offers overdrive features for gears two, 3, and 4.
For the present, the announcement of the ZR1's arrival for next year is making all of us here in Tucson pretty anxious: there were numerous changes to the Corvette during the 2000s as well, and these were the years when it became sleeker, and possessed the true luster of a futuristic and capable car. The emergence of the Z06 in 2006 was a major milestone for the brand, and many customers immediately fell in love with the lightweight aluminum frame, on top of the LS7 engine. We loved virtually picking through this illustrious ode to Corvettes, and cordially invite you down to O'rielly Chevy for a test drive of the latest and greatest ASAP!
