The base model is the “L”, the next trim level up is the Blazer, then you move up to the RS and Premier. The engine choices are the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that cranks out 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque, while higher trim levels see a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engine that cranks out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This is where the all-wheel drive becomes an option as well, while the nine-speed automatic stays.

The New Atlas crew drove the 2019 Blazer in the top-line Premier package, which includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control. The 3.6-liter engine offered up spry and aggressive performance, and the handling and drive quality were deemed as excellent. Lovers of tech will greatly appreciate the Blazer's four USB ports and excellent infotainment system, which Aaron immediately claimed was one of the best in the business. Response to touch is very quick, and comes with high-end extras like a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The menacing and robust Blazer SS will utilize the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 found in the Cadillac CT6, which cooks up 404 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, paired up aptly with a 10-speed automatic. All-wheel-drive comes as standard to properly handle all the extra muscle, and although officially-verified images are hard to find, some images such as the ones seen here can give us a pretty clear idea of what to expect. A very aero-enhanced body, black trim, and larger 21-inch wheels give the SUV a somewhat more menacing stance, and the lowered suspension provides much sharper handling and beefier brakes provide a more solidly-backed means of rapid slowdown.

2019 Blazer RS and 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Face Off For Title of Detroit's Best Two-Row Midsize SUV

The Ford Edge is currently in its second generation, and the experts on deck at Car and Driver organized a 550-mile Blazer/Edge face-off in California, taking close account of each vehicle's unique strengths, interior, and driving dynamics.

The seating position ranked overall more comfortable in the Blazer, and the verdict came in that the Edge's seating position feels awkward in comparison.

After the final rankings came in, the Blazer was said to exhibit better execution, stronger performance, and a much more secure feel on the road. The overall DNA and spring in the chassis gleaned directly from Camaro was another trait that ranked a bit higher than the Ford during the trial of the road test: everyone here at O'Rielly Chevy is excited to back the winner from this very involved and rigorous showdown.
